About
Grace Hordern completed her Bachelor of Music Performance for Harp in 2023 from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and this is her second year with AYO. Her love of harp began through the Tchaikovsky cadenzas she would hear in ballet classes, and after a couple of years of asking for lessons, she began. Since then, she has performed in solo, chamber and orchestral settings, studying under the current Principal Harpist of the MSO, Yinuo Mu. During her conservatorium studies, she participated in masterclasses under the instruction of harpists, including Judy Loman, Alice Giles and Heidi Lehwalder. She has been a harpist for the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, including for their international tour to Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra. When not busy tuning the harp’s 47 strings, Grace can be found spending time with her lively mini sausage dogs, teaching biology, dancing and tending to her temperamental indoor plants.
