Jun Gardiner is a 15-year-old cellist studying with Howard Penny, Head of Strings at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM). He achieved the Associate in Music, Australia (AMusA) with Distinction at age 11, and the Licentiate in Music, Australia (LMusA) with Distinction in 2023.
Jun has received recognition in multiple national competitions. Most recently, he was awarded first prize at the John Curro National Youth Concerto Competition in 2024. Jun was also the winner at The Talent 3MBS program. He was also a finalist in the Melbourne Recital Centre Bach Competition in 2021, 2022 and 2024, receiving encouragement awards in 2022 and 2024.
Outside of music, Jun enjoys playing sport for his school and is interested in a range of subjects.
