Nathan Rinaldy

An Australian flautist with a keen interest in music, sports, and mathematics. Nathan Rinaldy began learning piano at age 4 and flute at age 7. At age 16, he was offered a place in a bachelor’s degree program.
He has performed twice at Carnegie Hall (New York), with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists and the K. Art Orchestra (China) under the direction of Zenhua Luo. He was a soloist at Mozart Week with the Youth Orchestra (Salzburg, 2018), at the Youth Symphony Orchestra Concert (Austria, 2019), and with the Summer Orchestra Institute (USA, July 2019) under the direction of Andres Lopera.
He also performed with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Lin Daye (November 2019).
His awards include first prize at the Schubert Piano Competition (USA), the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod (Australia), the Passion of Music International (USA), the Kunc Duo Competition (Germany), the Zgorzelec International Competition (Poland), the Laureate of the International Russian Rotary Music Competition (Moscow). First prize in Primala Musica (SOLO 2019 and TRIO 2018 + 2020), third prize at the Dutch International Flute Competition (Netherlands 2025), and many others.
Nathan was honored to receive a scholarship to study flute at Temple University in Philadelphia (USA). He is a member of Young Classic Europe (Germany) and the was a member of the Yehudi Menuhin Artists Program.
He was also part of the DVD production “Wir Wunderkinder” with Salzburg Chamber Soloists and in Mozart Ways Promotion. Furthermore, he and his sister participated in the benefit concert of the Rotary Club St. Rupert (Salzburg), the 40th anniversary of the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival (July 2021), as well as in performances at Musicopia, Philadelphia (USA) and at the Westerhof-Stieler House (Germany).
They raised funds to help refugee children at the Catholic University Parish (KHG Unipfarre) in Salzburg to live in Salzburg.
He was a member of the Leopold Mozart Institute Foundation (Austria) and is currently studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with Prof. Gauci-Ancelin.

Answer Finding the love and passion in what I am doing.
Question: What would be your dream position, performance or role in your musical future? (e.g principal with Berlin Philharmonic – dream big!)
Answer My dream Position in the future is to be a principal Flutist in the Berlin Philharmonic.
Question: What was your favourite piece you have performed?
Answer My favourite piece that I have performed was actually my first Orchestral Piece, which was Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
