Australian trumpeter Josh Rogan is currently the Sub-Principal Trumpet of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in New Zealand.
He began his musical life at a young age, playing cornet in a local brass band with his family. Since then, he has taken his love of music all over the world, performing in venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Australia; Royal Albert Hall, United Kingdom; Walt Disney Concert Hall, United States of America; Royal Concertgebouw, Netherlands; Shanghai Concert Hall, China; and the Berlin Konzerthaus, Germany.
Josh is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, the Australian National Academy of Music, and the Colburn School. He has performed with a number of highly renowned ensembles, including Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has performed as soloist with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, the University of Melbourne Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra, and various community orchestras and brass bands.
In addition to being a performer, Josh is a published composer and the author of many trumpet method books. He is also the musical director of the Auckland City Brass Youth Band, and led them to win the Youth devision at the 2022 New Zealand National Band Competition. Teaching is a passion for him, and he has taught at both primary and secondary schools, as well as giving many private lessons for students of all musical abilities. Josh is an advocate for new music, and is still involved heavily in community organisations. In his free time, you will probably find Josh walking his dog, reading a book, eating good vegan food, or working on one of his many musical projects.
