What do Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Mark Elder, Gidon Kremer, Simone Young and Pinchas Zukerman all have in common? These distinguished international conductors and soloists have at one time, or another performed alongside The Australian Youth Orchestra.

Simone Young conducting

The Australian Youth Orchestra has a long history of working and indeed attracting great stars of the music world to perform in our annual February and July Seasons concerts as well as our triennial international tour. For aspiring young musicians, there is no greater thrill or formative lesson than playing alongside your lifetime hero in acclaimed concert venues throughout the world.

Many AYO participants strongly believe the growth and professional development they gain from being mentored, tutored and performing with such maestros and guest solo artists is priceless. Year on year, the AYO prides itself on attracting an extremely high calibre of conductors and artists, however the cost of engaging these stars is unsurprisingly high.

In 2012, we are delighted to announce the creation of the AYO’s Conductor’s Circle. The Conductor’s Circle is a wonderful opportunity for supporters who specifically wish to help the AYO continue to attract leading national and international conductors to work with Australia’s finest young musicians.
