About
Angus Hall is a passionate clarinettist from Townsville in North Queensland. He discovered his love for the clarinet at the age of 7 after finding one in his Nan’s cupboard and hasn’t put it down since. Angus began his tertiary music studies at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, studying with Paul Dean, and is currently completing his Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying with David Griffiths. During his undergraduate studies, Angus received many scholarships and prizes, most recently the 2025 Taffy Gould and Jeffrey Rosenfeld Prize, and the 2025 Ormond Exhibitions Scholarship.
As a soloist, Angus has performed the 1st movement of Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 with the Queensland Youth Orchestra in 2023, and the Telemann Concerto for 2 clarinets at the 2025 Buffet Clarinet Week in Spain. Angus is an active member of the University of Melbourne’s Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony, and in 2025 was principal Eb clarinet for both ensembles. Angus has also performed in masterclasses with Juan Ferrer, Keith Lipson, Boris Allakhverdyan, and Yehuda Gilad. When not playing the clarinet, Angus enjoys going to the gym, and playing board games with his friends.
