Arky began playing the flute at the age of twelve through his school’s band program, and picked up the bassoon a couple of years later, learning from Jordan London and Ben Hoadley in Canberra. He benefited greatly from the ANU Open School of Music’s Developing Musicians Program, which gave him the opportunity to play in a variety of chamber ensembles with frequent performance opportunities. Additionally, he had the opportunity to play bassoon in the ANU Orchestra throughout high school, where he could learn from high level musicians from a young age.

In 2024, Arky began studying a Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying bassoon performance under Lyndon Watts. Recent highlights include the 2026 AYO National Music Camp, and performing with the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
