Classical double bassist Emma Meixner began her studies in Canberra at the Australian National University’s School of Music under the tutelage of Kyle Ramsay-Daniel and Max McBride before moving to Brisbane to continue with Phoebe Russell at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Emma has always enjoyed orchestral playing, with her experience including performing with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra as a casual and playing with the National Opera and the Canberra Choral Society. She has been performing with the Australian Youth Orchestra since 2024, with her highlight being the Orchestra’s international tour to Europe in 2025. She was also principal of the Australian National University Orchestra, Canberra Youth Orchestra and the Canberra Symphony Youth Chamber Orchestra (CSYCO).

Emma also enjoyed her time as a Canberra Symphony Orchestra fellow in 2025.

While at the Australian National University Emma was awarded the Friends of the School of Music Performance Scholarship, and the Fankhauser Travelling Fellowship. She was also awarded the chamber prize at the Friends of the School of Music ensemble competition in 2025.
