About

Instrument: Viola

AYO: 2026

Haruki is a 16 year old violist in his senior years at the conservatorium high school in Sydney majoring in viola. He currently studies under Stuart Johnson through the school and participates in many ensembles including a chamber ensemble selected for the ENCORE showcase for HSC music students alongside playing in multiple other chamber ensembles that were nominated. Outside of the school’s music program Haruki has previously been involved in the ACO academy program for 3 years and is seated in the front desk of the SYO Flagship orchestra for two years.

Haruki started on the violin at age four and started taking music more seriously from age 10 when he switched to the viola and found a love for music. He finds great pleasure in learning the depth of chamber music guided by his peers and tutors and always looks for opportunities to express himself and play new repertoire. He has previously participated in the AYO Young Symphonists program finding like-minded musicians and looks forward to the other opportunities he will find through AYO.
