Honoka Hidai is a 16-year-old Japanese-Australian bassoonist based in Brisbane. She began playing the bassoon at age seven. Originally from Cairns, Honoka relocated to Brisbane to pursue broader musical opportunities and further her training. She currently studies under bassoon teacher Nicole Tait. In 2025, Honoka was a finalist in the Young Instrumentalists Prize competition. She has a strong interest in orchestral performance and is dedicated to continuing her development as a bassoonist through both ensemble and solo work.
