Laura grew up on a farm in northeast Victoria. She was immersed in music from an early age, sight-reading at the piano, singing alto parts in church hymns, and learning first piccolo, then flute, from the age of nine. Her path was set, however, when she discovered orchestras through participation in regional student workshops run by Orchestra Victoria and began learning from Karen Schofield in 2019. Laura was accepted into the Melbourne Youth Orchestra in 2022, where she played as principal flute for the following two years and participated in side-by-side programs with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Laura currently studies with Andrew Macleod, under whom she received her AMusA in 2023. She relocated to Melbourne in 2024, where she is working towards a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She has performed as principal flute with both the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Symphony, and has enjoyed exploring chamber music with her peers, including a side-by-side performance with the Australian String Quartet. In 2025, Laura was grateful to attend AYO’s National Music Camp in Adelaide, their Summer Season in Brisbane, as well as their International Tour in Europe.
