Mikayla Yap

Mikayla is an Adelaide-based percussionist studying at the Elder Conservatorium under Amanda Grigg. She is incredibly involved in music throughout Australia, playing in numerous Youth Orchestral Programs interstate as well as prominent ensembles in South Australia such as the Adelaide Wind Orchestra. 

She is also an integral member of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra, where she serves not only as a musician, but an advocate on the Player Committee. Whether it’s to local news outlets or members of parliament, Mikayla has regularly represented the organisation, spreading awareness of the value of music in society and the importance of the youth perspective.  

Outside of music, Mikayla is undertaking a Bachelor of Mathematics majoring in Statistics along side her Bachelor of Music, enjoying the harmony of creative and analytical thinking.
