Sixty-one young musicians, three challenging works and two mammoth concerts later, the Australian Youth Orchestra brings its Brave New Worlds to a triumphant finish.
Stop 1 ✈️ Darwin
On Friday 17 August, the AYO Flagship presented the concert to a packed house at the AANT Centre, Darwin, Northern Territory. For the audience, a clear highlight was Charlotte Miles, with her “exhilarating, hyper-expressive and energetic playing.” The concert opened with a splendid pre-concert talk led by Richard Mills AO (Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra) with soloist Charlotte Miles and principal clarinet, Angus Hall.

Final Destination 🛬 Sydney
After a whirlwind to the “top end” and back, the Australian Youth Orchestra welcomed audiences to the City Recital Hall on Sunday 19 July. Bridget Hutchinson, 2026 Media and Communication Fellow opened the concert with a pre-concert talk encompassing the themes and intentions of Brave New Worlds. Finally, as the sound of Dean, Shostakovich and Beethoven permeated through the colourful venue, audiences were left captivated by the range and calibre of these young musicians.
