I have to admit, as a ‘backpacking’ musician, I spend a lot of time on buses, trains and planes thinking about what I’m going to do at my upcoming destination. Today’s pondering led me to think about what I could get up to in Bowral this coming Saturday, 29 March 2025. After all, the time has come for the annual Bowral Autumn Music Festival – where else would you want to be?

Assuming you’re coming to the Australian Youth Orchestra Momentum Ensemble performance at 2pm in St Jude’s Auditorium, we must make sure that you take advantage of Bowral’s treats in the morning.

Fortunately, there are many cafés situated close to the Bowral Autumn Music Festival (BAMF). For lunch (or brunch), try Primary Espresso for some freshly baked muffins, or Nick’s for some art in your coffee as well as on the walls! If you’re looking for a hearty meal, the Kookabar Café has a dish for all times of the day as well as Allumer Coffee & Eatery.

Now you’ve got some energy, take a stroll around Bowral’s Corbett Gardens, a location that could be considered the tulip capital of Australia. If you do happen to get a little peckish whilst admiring the flowers, don’t forget there’s Fermento Bakery and Sweet Retreat Gelato all within walking distance.

With the concert soon approaching, it’s time to head towards the heart of the BAMF – St Jude’s Auditorium. We are excited to be working alongside William Barton, Aunty Delmae Barton, Véronique Serret, Hyung Suk Bae and BAMF Artistic Director Vatche Jambazian who have been guiding us through the repertoire this week. From C.P.E. Bach to Henryk Górecki to Barton and Serret’s work Bush(fire) Requiem, we invite you to join us on this journey to many universes in this 90-minute program.

Do say hello to us after the concert! We’re a friendly bunch and we always love to hear what the concert experience was like for you.

While we board the bus on route to our next destination, you may want to explore a few more restaurants like Julien’s Bowral Brasserie or Leila’s at the Grand, or you could find some treasure at the antique shop, Dirty Janes Bowral. If our concert has left you wanting more music, grab a ticket to see the Grigoryan Brothers who are performing after us at 6pm.

So, what will your ‘Perfect Day in Bowral be’? I can’t wait to hear about what you’ve gotten up to after the concert.

If you haven’t booked tickets for our performance already, you can do so via the button below!
