Internationally acclaimed percussionist Claire Edwardes OAM, a champion of the contemporary classical genre, leads Momentum Ensemble in a program of living, breathing music.

Australian artists are the centerpiece of this collaboration. Don’t miss the world premiere of a new Alice Chance work, commissioned by AYO. Performed alongside the inimitable Ross Edwards’ Laikan, a set of dances rich with rhythmic vitality, this program delves deep into the diversity and innovation of Australia’s artistic voice. Culture and connection resonate in works by Yuin composer Brenda Gifford, and earthy impressionism forms Silva, a concerto for percussion by Mary Finsterer.

The program also features the music of two American composers: Molly Joyce’s works are a dialogue of creativity and identity as a disabled artist, and her chamber work, Lost & Found is a regimented groove, winding through notions of loss and discovery. Chris Cerrone’s South Catalina is luminous, integrating composition and improvisation into one explosive score.
